Stefano Domenicali Is The New Boss Of Lamborghini

It’s all change at the top for Lamborghini next month, when Stefano Domenicali moves to Sant’Agata Bolognese to become President and CEO of the Italian manufacturer. He’s replacing current head man Stephen Winkelmann, who is moving to Audi’s sporty Quattro GmbH division.

Domenicali is best know for his role in charge of Scuderia Ferrari F1 between 2008 and 2014, but has had a number of roles within Maranello over the years. After leaving the Prancing Horse, the Italian moved to Audi where he became Vice President New Business Initiatives, a position he’ll cede when he becomes Lamborghini boss on 15 March.

The 50-year-old said of his appointment, “I am very excited to be taking on the challenges of this great legacy. It is now my duty to continue the successes that my predecessor Stephan Winkelmann achieved for Automobili Lamborghini.”

The man he replaces has overseen a period of massive growth, introducing the Huracan and Aventador to see unit sales more than double in the last decade. Winkelmann is also responsible for bringing the forthcoming Urus SUV to Lamborghini’s model lineup, so one of Domenicali’s first challenges will be to ensure the smooth launch of a car that’s something of a departure from the company’s usual production.

Hopefully they stop this weird obssesion with making everything look like a jet. All of their cars are starting to look like different versions of the same thing lately.
