Here's What The BMW M8 Prototype Sounds Like
Just days after revealing the 8-series concept, BMW decided to give the Mercedes-AMG S63 something to worry about by whipping out a prototype M8 at the Nurburgring 24 Hours.
With BMW trademarking the ‘M8’ name some time ago it was something we’ve been expecting - we just didn’t think we’d see it quite so soon. Handily, CT video chief Alex was on the ground at the ‘Ring with CT cameraman George during the reveal, and were able to take a closer look at the car.
BMW may be keeping schtum about the powerplant of the M8, but there’s nothing quiet about the exhaust on the prototype. The pipework is quite clearly hooked up to a V8 of some description, perhaps a motor related to BMW’s tried-and-tested 4.4-litre twin-turbo unit.
Whatever it is, it sounds nicely angry, don’t you think?

I’m sad it’s gonna be a V8…
M8ing noises are gooood.
Is it a V8 M8?
Here we have it folks. The all new M6 venti coupé extra large but still the same old v8. In all seriousness. It looks nice but why not a v12? Just seems like a bigger M6.
No doubt it will be a fantastic car, it already has a terrific noise!
But why did they hide the interior? we all know it will be the same as all other BMWs!
Im in a BMW M8 (mate)
M8ing sound
sounds a lot like an AMG A Class 45
To me the crackles sound far too artificial and fake…
