Here's The New Mercedes CLS Imagined In AMG And Shooting Brake Spec

The curiously styled, all-new Mercedes CLS seemed to split opinion upon its LA release this week, but how does it look after a little Photoshop trickery? Thanks to this pair of renders from X-Tomi Design, we’re able to find out.
One imagines the CLS in AMG 63 form, the other as a Shooting Brake. We reckon both look great, but there’s a problem: they’re not likely to become reality.

Let’s start with the AMG. Affalterbach will indeed be cooking up a go-faster CLS, but it’s thought that it’ll adopt the new ‘53’ designation, using a more powerful version of the inline-six-based, mild-hybrid powertrain seen in the CLS 450. Why no V8-powered CLS63? Because it’d tread on the toes of the incoming AMG GT saloon, which will also be based on the E-Class platform.
Then there’s the CLS Shooting Brake. Another CLS wagon would be awesome, but the most recent iteration sold so poorly that Mercedes canned the idea of making one for this new generation. Double boo.

The Shooting Brake happened with the last gen. Hope they continue with this one as well… after they maybe reconsider people’s opinions that is. 😟
While I wished the whole damn CLS thing never happened…..
Mercedes’ line up is becoming a mess
No 63 AMG version, because there will be an AMG GT saloon, yet no Shooting Brake version, which would actually differentiate the CLS from AMG GT saloon
THEY HAVE TO MAKE A PROPER AMG WAGON!
The headlights remind me of the new face-lifted mustang
Not that bad.
