The 10 Worst Racing Games You Have Ever Played

1. Need for Speed

No, we donāt mean the whole franchise. There have been some pretty sweet NFS games. We mean the 2015 release of that name, which featured frequently in the comments of the original community post.
Hereās what Raregliscor1 had to say about it:
āOh, NFS 2015 by far. Lacklustre customisation at the beginning, with some cars getting such minimal cosmetic upgrades. Also, it had the absolute worst driving physics ever. Grip builds equal immense understeer, drift builds equals you going into the wall every five minutes when you try drifting because the game doesnāt like you drifting. And a middle build just has both but slightly less. The map was extremely boring in comparison to previous NFS games like Most Wanted 2012 and Hot Pursuit.ā
2. Asphalt 8: Airborne

Sure, Asphalt 8 is a mobile game for iOS and Android, so we canāt expect console-like quality. But other racing games prove you can still get it right for these kind of devices.
Hereās ŠŠ»ŠµŠŗŃŠ°Š½Š“Ń Š ŠøŠ³Š¾Š² explaining the suggestion:
āI canāt name any bad simulator racing games, but Asphalt 8 is probably the worst so-called āracing gameā ever created, because itās basically just a stupid runner.ā
3. Forza Horizon 2

Perhaps a controversial choice for some, but Forza Horizon 2 canāt be everyoneās cup of tea despite getting quite high reviews at the time of its release. But, cutting some of the cars and map areas wasnāt well received by quite a few gamers.
Letās hear why Johan Karlsson chose FH2, specifically the Xbox 360 version:
āI understand that they canāt make the graphics look as good as on the Xbox One, but they also decided to cut several cars and areas of the map. You also got much smaller rewards for completing races or levelling up.ā
4. Need for Speed: The Run

Recent Need for Speed games arenāt having the best of times on this list, are they? But, theyāre here for a reason. 2011ās The Run proved to be pretty disappointing, as CTzen Harambe (youāre alive?) explains:
āSeriously, the main campaign (race from LA to New York City) can be finished in two hours and there is no content after that.ā
5. Forza Motorsport 5

FM5 was seen as a disappointment to some when it was released for Xbox One, especially when compared to previous games from the franchise. Timmy Tam talks us through his suggestion:
āIt lost so much compared to previous Motorsport games, especially FM4. FM4 had 500 cars at launch while FM5 only had 200, the track list is also small with the fanās favourite Fujimi and Maple Valley gone, and the physics is by far the worst in any Forza game ever.
āItās twitchy, unpredictable for almost any cars, and when you oversteer, it is impossible to correct it, hence making it extremely hard to drift. FM5 was not something you would expect out of one of the best racing game franchise, it gives me the sense that the game is incomplete.
āMaybe Turn 10 didnāt have enough time as this is the first Forza on Xbox One, but I still think that they could have done it better. And for that, I think FM5 is the worst racing game Iāve ever played because it was such a huge disappointment.ā
6. Need for Speed: No Limits

Yep, another NFS title. They really disappointed some people, didnāt they? No Limits was released in 2015, but not for consoles. Itās for iOS and Android devices and people werenāt happy with how it was presented in the app stores and how it actually was in reality.
Let The Stigās Indian Cousin tell us why:
āThey put pictures in the app store like the console version but in reality, it looks the worst. Plus, the races are so short.ā
7. Project Cars

I really like Project Cars. Sure, there are a few things that annoy me about it, but isnāt that the case with all games? Anyway, a few of you really arenāt fans and thatās fair enough. Hereās Fahim Kaziās reasoning for suggesting it:
āPicked it up and thought it canāt be as bad as everyone is saying. It sucks, it feels like itās still in beta.ā
8. Test Drive Unlimited

The ninth game in the Test Drive franchise but it wasnāt well received by a fair few people. It finds its way to this list through a number of suggestions, hereās Kevin Ferraine explaining why he picked it:
āItās good for the buying house thing, but the worst at driving experience. The physics are awful, going 100mph on a bend with a Maserati MC12 is just like cornering with a Dodge Hellcat. Lose control in a Enzo at 30mph and you will end up with a huge crash. Even Paganis feel so bad. Try the mountain race and you will lose easily. The game is great for fulfilling dreams, but worst at gaming experience and peopleās sanity And the other thing is, no BMWs were available in the game.ā
9. The Crew

The Crew was released in 2014 for PC, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One. It received mixed reviews on release and it appears some of you werenāt fans of the game. Sam Payne kept his reasoning short and simple:
āThe Crew is awful. Terrible driving makes you feel like cars are on water.ā
10. Big Rigs: Over The Road Racing

Having been panned by critics and gaming reviews, itās no surprise someone suggested Big Rigs for this list. The PC game was released in 2003. You basically have to race a big rig to safely deliver illegal cargo. It was not good. Citi Rat explains:
āBig Rigs: Over The Road Racing. I honestly have no words for this game. Itās horrid, utterly horrid.ā

I agree
I can actually agree on all of these except, Need For Speed: The Run. Which I havenāt played. Project Cars I think is probably the worst as like Fahim said it was lacking, and got bored after a few times of playing it. And having to buy a wheel just for it is annoying as well, as the game didnāt come cheap. Also the Crew I agree on, the handling was bad. But the open-world is undeniably good.
I play project cars on a wheel and while the physics are not as good as assetto corsa, they are ok. Also, the idea of the career mode is fantastic, I just wish that in the sequel the AI are better
Well that explains half of your opinion about it being bad. You want to enjoy a racing sim? At least get a decent wheel, or stop wining about it sucking. Itās a racing sim, youāre supposed to use a decent wheel to enjoy it.
Donāt torture yourself with that abomination of a game.
The Run, while having some seriously cool custom edition cars⦠Was outright horrid as for physics, traffic spawns, and a undeniably short story.
Test drive unlimited ⦠complains about no BMW shows picture of BMW
IRONY
Hehe
It should be a mod there on the pics -_-. There arent official bmw in the game
I guess you havenāt play it donāt you?
andddd the BMW is mod
I find THE CREW one of the best racing games ever: the map is huge and has a lot of variety, the graphics are okay, customization is awesome (seriously, you can turn a fiat 500 into a monster truck) and even though the handling is very unrealistic it is a lot of fun.
No offense to Sam Payne, every one has their opinion
The map may be big and it has variety.. But did you look at details? Thereās not a lot of them in most areasā¦
The handling is literally uncontrollabe, especially when using a steering wheel, which you have to set up for like a few hours of testing, because you have to use the controller mapping for it.. Which is bad.. Itās just as uncontrollabe as need for speed.. Wheel support is non existent basically and I had to play with a stupid controller, to finish the game on pc.. Tried it out on the xbox some time ago.. Unplayable.. Low fps, bad controls.. Just no⦠But I guess Iām spoilt by good racing games for PC xD I would like wheel support in a racing game and good force feedback quality⦠Just my opinion though, I donāt want to start a war :D I just disagree with you saying itās one of the best racing games ever and I wanted to let you know why ^^
The Crew is one of my favourite racing games ever, but when i first started the game i thought something was wrong with my wheel, because of the awfull handling⦠lol
I have put over 300 hours in The Crew because is was an okay experience to cruise around the land with my friends + teamspeak. But the handling of the cars is terrible. They tried to be better than nfs but they are not. There is litterally zero traction but you still have grip when your wheels are spinning like mad for some reason. It is utterly impossible to drift (and I have the experience to back it up, hundreds of hours in FM4 building and testing drift cars and using them in online lobbies. then trying everything, including the special ādriftā class but it just sucks balls).
Actually only thinking about The Crew again made me throw up in my moth a little so Iām going to leave it at this and continue waiting for FM7 in FH3.
I have to fight for the CREW ⦠at first i thought it was boring but then i unlocked everything, plugged in my steering wheel and pedals and the handling is pretty good. Playing on a pad or a keyboard is weird⦠the graphics on pc is also great, i got it for my ps4 and i cant stand it
U forgot nfs undercover
The ten best racing games would be a great follow up ( from the last 5 years )
Haha it would be hard to find 10 good racing games from the past 5 years lol
Just bought Need for Speed in the Origin Wintersale and i just can disagree. Yes Grip build is awful, but with the right settings drifting is really cool. The whole driving mechanics feel like being made for drifting and it works really good for me.
Maybe its different on PC, but when I played it, the game is so untrusting of your actual driving that the auto-steer that occurs often sends you towards a fence for no reason.
The crew was one of the best open world racing games (horizon 2 is the best imo), the customization and open world is just fantastic but i agree with cars being too slidy.
The cars in The Crew grip very good, up to very unrealistic levels of good, itās just that you have to fiddle around with controller sensitivity . The main problem is that the default settings are extremely bad . Once sensitivity, linearity and all other options are raised, the cars respond and feel like a tottaly different game and i love it.
Disagree with need for speed 2015 and the crew
Iām playing GT6 with a wheel and i was wondering if it can improve your driving skills in the real world .
Can someone enlighten me about this?
Well after certain thousand kilometers I think it can.
Some people drove over 100 000 km.
It will probably give you an idea of how different car layouts will behave in different situations, and will most likely help improve your reaction time and ability to judge distance, among other things.
With that said, keep in mind that GT6 is in no way a 100% accurate representation of reality.
Play dirt rally, it will b*tch slap you and say youāre not a racing driver and you never will be. It sure put me in my place 😂
Impossible. You will never get the feeling of driving through purely a wheel. Good fun though mind..
GT5/GT6 with a Logitech G27 wheel actually taught me how to drive manual. GT6 is probably the best for learning driving skills on PS3, but if you go PC, PS4, XBOne, you should give DiRT Rally or Assetto Corsa a try.
