Nico Rosberg Will Be With Mercedes For Another Two F1 Seasons

Mercedes and Nico Rosberg have confirmed the signing of a new two-year deal until the end of the 2018 Formula 1 season. Rosbergās F1 future has been secured and he will race alongside team-mate Lewis Hamilton at the Silver Arrows for the next two seasons, which is when both driversā contracts will run out.
Itās hardly a surprising move from Mercedes but it does fill another top seat on the 2017 grid and takes away the chances of its junior drivers Pascal Wehrlein and Esteban Ocon.
The new deal was revealed in a rather unique way, with a contract signing video being posted on both Rosberg and Mercedesā social media accounts. A close-up snap of the piece of paper being scribbled on later revealed it is a two-year deal for 2017 and 2018.
Rosberg has been with Mercedes since the German manufacturer returned to F1 as a team in 2010, having switched over from Williams.

All of his 19 wins have been with the Brackley-based team and he is currently leading the 2016 driversā championship, as he goes for his first title in F1 (on his third attempt).
It means we have another two years of inter-team rivalry, on-track clashes (itās inevitable another one will happen) and possibly more title battles - if Mercedes holds onto its advantage with the new 2017 rules - between Rosberg and Hamilton.
What do you make of the news? Who would have you liked to see at Mercedes if Rosberg hadnāt been retained? Let us know in the comments.
